Autumn Adventure Day
Harvest is over on the farm and the leaves are changing colour, which is a sure sign that Autumn is here. We have lots of Autumnal adventures for you and your family here at Byres Farm, so grab your wellies and coats and come on down! We have an exciting Autumn walk with pumpkins and other goodies to find along the way. We also have an amazing new straw bale play area, which is great to keep all ages of children and adults amused (good old fashioned outdoor fun)!
Bring your family and friends round to see what you can find on our farm walk, whilst enjoying the country air. The walk will lead you through some fields and back to our animal paddock area where we will have a variety of farm animals for you see. Back at the Cartshed and play area we will have a variety of autumnal crafts and activities to keep you busy. Then you can relax and enjoy our enclosed play area, undercover outdoor play area and cart shed. While the kids run around or settle down to a craft table, you can purchase a coffee and home bake from the onsite coffee bar. There is no need to hurry and you can take your time to enjoy the experience. A morning ticket means you must arrive and check in at some point between 9.30am and 12noon, but you can stay as long as you like (until 5pm!). An afternoon ticket means you must check in at some point between 1pm and 3.30pm and again you can stay as long as you like up until 5pm.
It is a farmland walk so wellies or stout footwear is recommended. Unfortunately as the walk part crosses fields and uneven ground it is not suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs.
If any women are pregnant they should also be aware of the risks of being around farm animals, in particular lambs and sheep. Whilst we don’t lamb any sheep on site there will be young lambs within the paddocks and women should be aware of the risks involved and make their own decision as whether to attend this event or not. More information can be found at https://www.nhs.uk/common-health-questions/pregnancy/why-should-pregnant-women-avoid-sheep-during-the-lambing-season/
Please note that both adults and children require a ticket.
