DIRECTIONS

From the West
Follow the A96 toward Fochabers, once you have crossed the spey, take a left off the roundabout towards Spey Bay (B9104), then your first left (after 1 mile).

From the East
Follow the A96 past Fochabers via the bypass, once you reach the end of the bypass take a right on the roundabout heading for Spey Bay (B9104) then your first left (after 1 mile).

At the heart of Byres Farm, you’ll find the Smith family – a dynamic duo dedicated to sharing their love for farming and community. Helen Smith is the driving force behind our on-farm venue, orchestrating engaging experiences for visitors. Meanwhile, her husband Bill Smith, alongside his family, tends to the land with unwavering passion and commitment.

Their shared journey is enriched by their two children, Marshall and Louisa. These young enthusiasts are no strangers to hard work and lend a hand in both of the businesses, infusing every aspect with youthful energy and a genuine family touch.

FAQ

Can I take my dog to the farm?

We love dogs and welcome them on our circular walks, if kept on a lead and picked up after (Dog poo bin is provided at the carpark).  Unfortunately we cannot permit dogs within the play areas or animal paddocks though.

Can I bring a picnic?

Yes we have picnic areas and are happy for you to bring your own picnic.

Do you sell food?

We have a self service coffee shop which sells drinks and snacks, but not meals.  We are happy for you to bring a picnic for lunch.

Is it Muddy?

We try our best to have solid surfaces around the venue but it is a farm so sometimes mud does appear – we don’t recommend wearing your best white trainers!

Can you hold the animals?

All our animals have feeding tubes in order to keep you safe from any biting teeth and bugs that you can get from animals.  We do allow you to hand feed the goats and sheep but ask that you wash your hands thoroughly after contact with them (multiple hand wash stations are provided on site)

Do I need a ticket to use the coffee shop and walks?

No these are open 7 days a week 7am – 7pm and no ticket is required to use them.

Can I visit the farm if I am pregnant?

Yes although we advise you stay away from all sheep and goats as contact with any of their birthing fluids can be a risk to human pregnancies.
